FANTASTIC news everyone! After 1 year and four months, the L and L tag team finally certified in obedience! For one hour out at "the land," neither dog disobeyed us SANS leash and collar. After a rigorous (well, not really...we train harder than we test) set of sits, downs, heels, comes, and stays our trainer bestowed upon us the most magnificant honor...certification.

The test was more of an ordeal for Eric and I than it was for Louie and Laika, who were already exhausted by a full day of tracking and agility. 45 minutes worth of down stays? We can handle THAT, they said :) Many folks out there say that it is impossible to certify huskies in obedience. Not true!!! We'd like to thank everyone for supporting us and advising us up to this momentous occasation. YEAH!
Because I'm sure this is the last blog I'll post for a while...I'll double up and say Merry Christmas and a happy new year :) We love everyone!

What a great day for you two and our favorite 8 Below dogs. You have worked so hard and been so diligent and your dogs definitely reflect all your efforts. I can still remember the first day you guys came to the park with Louie, Laika being so shy and timid, the first time you had to go some distance from them and the first time you took them off equipment. The look of apprenhension on Brooke's when we would direct her to do something that went totally against her instincts was always priceless. Thanks so much for your trust in the training. Who says a Husky can't do this!!! You two have always been so great and I am very proud that I could play some small part in your success. You are all most deserving of this proof of your hard work. and to think...i was there for the "uhm, you should know that huskies are very difficult dogs to train and you will fight for every inch" speech. it's certainly all worth it now, eh?! congratulations!!
oh, and caana says, "DUH, they have blue eyes...of COURSE they certified the first time...we've got that talent, ya know...!"
